About Rocko Wheeler

Rocko Wheeler is a Texas-born singer-songwriter whose music bridges the rich traditions of Americana with contemporary indie storytelling. Raised in rural East Texas and now based in Sierra Madre, California, Wheeler draws inspiration from iconic artists like Bob Dylan and John Prine, as well as from Baptist hymns and classic country-western sounds. His evocative lyricism and heartfelt narratives have earned him critical acclaim, with Deli Magazine dubbing him "the ghost of Gram Parsons" following his debut album, *The Book of Rocko Wheeler*.

In 2021, Wheeler released *TAKE SHELTER*, produced by Kyle Cox and mixed by Mike Marsh of The Avett Brothers. The album was celebrated by The Boot as "a beautiful snapshot of a one-of-a-kind record," featuring standout tracks like "Truth or Consequences, USA," which Songpickr named among the Best Songs of 2021. Demonstrating his deep connection to Americana roots, Wheeler recorded parts of *TAKE SHELTER* at Nashville’s renowned Butcher Shoppe with Grammy-winning engineer Sean Sullivan, known for collaborations with Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers.

Continuing his artistic evolution, Wheeler’s 2023 album *WEST COAST GOLD* further explores his journey from the American South to the West Coast, blending original storytelling with heartfelt melodies. His forthcoming project, *The Man Who Wasn’t There*, promises to deepen this narrative with more of his signature blend of timeless Americana and introspective lyricism. Rocko Wheeler remains a vital voice in modern roots music, skillfully connecting past and present through his compelling songs.
