About Otoboke Beaver

Otoboke Beaver is a dynamic all-female punk-rock quartet from Kyoto, Japan, formed in the summer of 2009. The band’s lineup features Accorinrin on lead vocals and guitar, Yoyoyoshie handling guitar and vocals, Hiro-chan on bass and vocals, and Pop behind the drums and vocals. Known for their blistering, high-speed garage punk infused with playful yet sharp lyrics sung entirely in Japanese—often peppered with distinctive Kyoto slang—the group delivers an explosive fusion of chaotic energy and catchy punk-pop melodies.

Their breakthrough came in 2017, when leading music outlets such as Pitchfork, NPR, i-D, and The Fader spotlighted their work, coinciding with standout debut performances at SXSW and Fuji Rock festivals. The 7-inch single "Love Is Short" marked significant commercial success, charting in the UK for four consecutive weeks. In 2018, Otoboke Beaver showcased their global appeal with two electrifying sets at Coachella, followed by a sold-out UK headline tour dubbed the "ATTYUUMA" (blink of an eye) tour, sharing stages with prominent acts like Say Sue Me, Leggy, and Drinking Boys and Girls Choir.

Their critically acclaimed 2019 album "ITEKOMI HITS," released via Damnably Records, encapsulates their spirited and unruly sound, further establishing them as one of Japan’s most thrilling punk exports. With a name inspired by a local Kyoto love hotel and a self-described ethos as a band that "knocks out or pounds cake," Otoboke Beaver continues to captivate audiences worldwide with relentless energy and authentic cultural flair.
