About The Night Blooms

The Night Blooms is a synth-driven duo hailing from San Diego, featuring longtime collaborators Timothy McCann and Steven Hilferty. Marking their third joint project since 2016, the pair first joined forces in the post-punk synth band VoiceActor, where McCann’s distinctive lead vocals and Hilferty’s bass lines laid the groundwork for their evolving sound. Beyond this partnership, they also explore ’60s Mod revival influences as members of Thee Seretones.

What sets The Night Blooms apart is their fully collaborative approach—both artists equally contribute as musicians, lyricists, and co-producers—allowing them to sculpt a deeply personal and atmospheric soundscape. Drawing inspiration from seminal post-punk and synth pioneers like New Order and Joy Division, as well as modern darkwave acts such as Black Marble, they blend melancholic tones with subtle hints of optimism. McCann encapsulates their ethos as “the feeling of despair and abandon with sparks of optimism because the night blooms, but sometimes it doesn’t,” a poetic reflection of their moody yet hopeful aesthetic.

Their debut single, “Climaxes of Failure,” leads the anticipated EP *Eternally Only*, set for release in January 2026. With this project, The Night Blooms are poised to expand their reach, offering listeners a fresh take on vintage synth-driven music infused with emotional depth and nostalgic ambiance.
