About Julian Joseph

Julian Joseph, born Julian Raphael Nathaniel Joseph on May 11, 1966, in London, England, is a distinguished British jazz pianist and bandleader renowned for his innovative fusion of classical and jazz traditions. Trained in classical composition at Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music, Joseph effortlessly blends influences from classical masters like Prokofiev and Beethoven with the improvisational brilliance of jazz legends such as Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock.

A visionary artist, Joseph leads a celebrated 20-piece All Star Big Band featuring prominent musicians including Tony Remy, Jean Toussaint, and Andy Sheppard, showcasing his dedication to expanding and redefining the boundaries of jazz. His live performances, known for their dynamic energy, have captivated audiences at esteemed venues such as London’s Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, and the Barbican, as well as internationally at the Montreal Jazz Festival.

Among his notable career highlights is a live recording at Wigmore Hall, featuring esteemed collaborators like Alec Dankworth, Eddie Daniels, Jason Rebello, and Johnny Griffin. He has also performed George Gershwin’s "Piano Concerto in F" on BBC television and recorded alongside acclaimed artists including Bheki Mseleku, drummer Mark Mondesir, and bassist Reginald Veal. While Joseph’s albums serve as creative snapshots of his evolving artistry, it is his electrifying live shows that truly define his musical legacy.
