About Yndi Halda

Yndi Halda is a post-rock band originating from Kent, England, formed in 2001 by teenage musicians James Vella (guitar, lead vocals), Jack Lambert (guitar), Daniel Neal (violin), and Oliver Newton (drums). The lineup expanded to include Simon Hampshire (bass, vocals) and Philip Self (keyboards, guitar, vocals), enriching their sound with lush orchestral arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. Renowned for their expansive compositions, Yndi Halda blends sweeping strings and powerful crescendos that have become their signature.

Their debut album, "Enjoy Eternal Bliss" (2006), initially self-released with limited distribution, quickly gained critical acclaim for its predominantly instrumental tracks marked by dramatic dynamic buildups. This breakthrough record was reissued in 2007 by Big Scary Monsters in Europe and Burnt Toast Vinyl in the US, featuring an additional unreleased song that further showcased the band’s emotive soundscapes. Following extensive tours across Europe, North America, and Asia, Yndi Halda took a lengthy hiatus.

The band made a notable return in 2016 with "Under Summer," an album highlighting stronger songwriting and vocal elements while preserving their atmospheric depth. This evolution was complemented by the 2018 EP "A Sun-Coloured Shaker," which gained new life through a creative remix by acclaimed electronic artist Prefuse73 in 2019. With a dedicated global following, Yndi Halda continues to captivate audiences, cementing their place as a vital force in the post-rock genre.
