About Rose Tattoo

Rose Tattoo, formed in Sydney in 1976 by former Buffalo guitarist Peter Wells, stands as one of Australia’s most influential hard rock bands. With the fiery and unmistakable vocals of frontman Angry Anderson, the group quickly became a defining force in the Australian pub rock scene. Their sound—an intense fusion of blues-driven hard rock and raw heavy metal—drew inspiration from icons like the Rolling Stones and the Faces, delivering powerful, no-nonsense rock anthems.

The band’s early albums produced enduring hits such as "Bad Boy for Love," "Rock 'n' Roll Outlaw," "Nice Boys," and "Scarred for Life," which helped them carve out a loyal following both at home and abroad. Their relentless energy and gritty sound resonated internationally, influencing prominent American rock acts including Guns N’ Roses, Keel, L.A. Guns, and Nashville Pussy—many of whom have honored Rose Tattoo by recording their songs. In the early 1980s, Rose Tattoo solidified their reputation with electrifying European tours, notably at London’s legendary Marquee Club.

Despite numerous lineup changes and the tragic passing of founding members Peter Wells and Ian Rilen, Rose Tattoo has persisted, with Anderson remaining the enduring voice of the band. After disbanding in 1987, they reunited in the late 1990s and continued to produce compelling new material, including the 2020 album "Outlaws," which revisited their roots through fresh recordings and previously unreleased tracks. Their lasting impact on Australian rock was acknowledged with an induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2006, ensuring Rose Tattoo’s legacy as a cornerstone of hard rock history.
