About Aimee Mann

Aimee Mann is a celebrated American singer-songwriter whose influential career spans over four decades, bridging the late new wave era and the adult alternative pop scene. She first gained widespread recognition as the lead vocalist of ’Til Tuesday, the new wave band that scored a major Top Ten hit with "Voices Carry" (1985). After the band disbanded in 1990, Mann embarked on a solo career defined by introspective lyrics and meticulous craftsmanship. Her debut solo album, *Whatever* (1993), showcased a folk-tinged sound and included the alternative hit "I Should’ve Known."

Mann’s follow-up, *I'm with Stupid* (1996), helped solidify a loyal fanbase despite industry challenges, including label bankruptcies. Her career reached a pivotal moment with the 1999 release of the *Magnolia* soundtrack, featuring the Academy Award-nominated song "Save Me," written for Paul Thomas Anderson’s critically acclaimed film. Throughout the 2000s and beyond, Mann has consistently evolved, releasing acclaimed albums such as *Bachelor No. 2 or, the Last Remains of the Dodo* and the concept album *Forgotten Arm* (2006), which she later adapted into musical theater.

Beyond her solo work, Mann co-founded the duo The Both with Ted Leo and launched her independent label, SuperEgo Records, embodying artistic independence. Her 2021 album *Queen of the Summer Hotel* grew out of her work on a musical adaptation of *Girl, Interrupted*, demonstrating her versatility as both a recording artist and theatrical composer. Aimee Mann remains a revered figure in alternative pop, known for her enduring voice and insightful songwriting.
