About Dis Fig

Dis Fig, the stage name of Felicia Chen, is a New Jersey-born, Berlin-based DJ, producer, vocalist, and performer who has become a defining voice in contemporary experimental music. Emerging from New York City’s vibrant DIY noise scene, she gained early recognition through dynamic mixes for platforms like Classical Trax, Discwoman, and Boiler Room. Her sonic palette weaves together grime, bass, trap, industrial noise, and drone, creating immersive soundscapes that balance abrasive textures with moments of unexpected vulnerability.

Breakthrough came with her 2019 debut album, "Purge" (PTP), which marked a pivotal departure from conventional club music. The record blends harsh industrial elements with melodic, emotionally charged songwriting, establishing Dis Fig as an artist who fearlessly navigates the tension between heaviness and tenderness. Her live shows are renowned for their intense physicality and emotional immediacy, where her acrobatic vocal style invites a powerful connection between performer and audience.

Dis Fig’s evolution continued through notable collaborations, including the dub-infused experimental album "In Blue" (2020) with The Bug on Hyperdub and the haunting, boundary-pushing project "Orchards of a Futile Heaven" (2024) alongside The Body via Thrill Jockey. Beyond music, she contributes her evocative sound and presence to performance art, notably in Tianzhuo Chen’s ritualistic TRANCE series. Through these diverse ventures, Dis Fig remains an influential figure reshaping the possibilities of heavy, experimental music.
