About The Meltdown

Emerging from Melbourne’s vibrant music scene, The Meltdown is a soul band celebrated for its seamless fusion of Southern soul influences drawn from legendary labels like Stax and Motown, enriched by Nashville’s songwriting craftsmanship. Fronted by the powerful and soaring vocals of Simon Burke, the group’s sound is defined by hypnotic grooves, tight rhythm sections, and expressive horn arrangements that create a spacious, warm atmosphere.

The Meltdown signed with Hopestreet Recordings in 2015, quickly capturing attention with their debut single, "Better Days" (2015). This track set the stage for the release of their self-titled album, "The Meltdown" (2017), which earned widespread critical acclaim and propelled the band into the spotlight with sold-out shows and festival appearances across Australia. Their music channels the heartfelt emotion of Memphis soul while retaining a contemporary edge, making each performance both a stirring and danceable experience.

Known for compelling storytelling and immersive soundscapes, The Meltdown continues to build on their impressive reputation. With new material and expanding tours that reach local and international audiences, the band is a dynamic force in the global soul scene, representing Melbourne’s vibrant musical heritage and carrying the authentic spirit of Southern soul far beyond its origins.
