About Sixpence None the Richer

Sixpence None the Richer, formed in the early 1990s in New Braunfels, Texas, began when guitarist Matt Slocum met vocalist Leigh Nash during a church retreat. Their unique blend of Christian and alternative rock quickly took shape with their 1993 debut album, "The Fatherless & the Widow." This foundation was solidified with "This Beautiful Mess" (1995), an album that earned critical acclaim and a Dove Award, firmly establishing their place in the contemporary Christian music scene.

In 1996, they released "Tickets For A Prayer Wheel," a collection featuring B-sides, original songs, and thoughtful covers, further showcasing their musical versatility. The band’s breakthrough to mainstream success came in 1997 after signing with indie label Squint Entertainment. Their self-titled album included the iconic single "Kiss Me," which became a cultural phenomenon, appearing in numerous films, TV shows, and advertisements worldwide.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of this landmark album, Curb Records reissued it in early 2024 as a deluxe vinyl edition. This special release features remastered tracks, acoustic versions of favorites like "Kiss Me" and "There She Goes," and introduces "The Tide," a new song that has amassed over two million streams. Today, Sixpence None the Richer continues to resonate with a diverse, multigenerational audience, with plans for fresh music and international tours on the horizon.
