About Dan Lyons

Dan Lyons is a distinguished musician and songwriter from the South East of England, who currently divides his time between Margate and Paris. As a founding member of influential bands such as Fat White Family and Phobophobes, Lyons has carved a unique path within the indie and alternative music scenes. His collaborations span a diverse range of artists, including French band La Femme—where he lent his vocals on six tracks of their 2021 album "Rock Machine," featuring the lead single "Clover Paradise"—as well as Misty Miller, Mozart Estate, and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Notably, he contributed as drummer and songwriter to Misty Miller’s Sony Records debut, "The Whole Family Is Worried," and joined The Brian Jonestown Massacre on drums briefly at the end of 2023.

Under his own name, Dan Lyons has released two critically acclaimed albums that highlight his sharp storytelling and evocative lyricism. His debut, "SubSuburbia" (2017), was hailed by Clash magazine as “an intense magnifying glass upon post-Brexit, pre-dystopian Britain,” capturing the social and political tensions of contemporary England. His follow-up, "Shuttered Dreams" (2020), was recorded in just ten days inside a derelict theater during the COVID-19 pandemic, further cementing his reputation for raw, poetic songwriting reminiscent of the narrative depth of Bob Dylan and Lou Reed. Tracks like "Biarritz," featuring Clémence Quélennec, showcase his command of vivid imagery and Beat poet influence.

Dan Lyons continues to craft compelling music, with a third solo album currently in progress, expected to build on his legacy as a powerful voice in modern storytelling through song.
