About P.O.D.

P.O.D., a dynamic four-piece band hailing from San Diego’s multicultural Southtown neighborhood, has been a pioneering force in the nu-metal and Christian rock scenes since their formation in the early 1990s. Initially performing under names like Eschatos and Enoch, the group solidified its classic lineup in 1992 with vocalist Sonny Sandoval, guitarist Marcos Curiel, drummer Wuv Bernardo, and bassist Traa Daniels joining a year later. Known for their innovative blend of punk, heavy metal, reggae, rap, and Latin rhythms, P.O.D. channels this eclectic sound through spiritually driven lyrics rooted in their Christian faith.

After independently releasing EPs that sold over 40,000 copies via Rescue Records, P.O.D. caught the attention of Atlantic Records. Their major-label debut, "The Fundamental Elements of Southtown" (1999), propelled them to mainstream success with platinum-certified hits like "Southtown" and "Rock the Party (Off the Hook)." The momentum continued with "Satellite" (2001), an album that reached number six on the Billboard 200 and featured Grammy-nominated singles "Alive" and "Youth of a Nation."

Despite lineup shifts—most notably Curiel’s brief departure and return—and occasional hiatuses, P.O.D. sustained their creative evolution with albums such as "Payable on Death" (2003), "Testify" (2006), and "When Angels and Serpents Dance" (2008). Collaborations with influential artists like Mike Muir and members of the Marley family enriched their sound further. After a strong comeback with "Murdered Love" (2012), the band continued to innovate with "The Awakening" (2015) and "Circles" (2018), solidifying their legacy as genre-defying artists who remain true to their faith and musical roots.
