About CPM 22

CPM 22 is a flagship Brazilian punk-pop band that originated from São Paulo’s underground rock scene in 1995. The band’s name stands for "Caixa Postal Mil e Vinte e Dois" (P.O. Box 1022), reflecting their grassroots beginnings. The lineup includes vocalist Fernando Estéfano Badauí, guitarists Luciano Garcia and Eduardo Gomes, bassist Fernando Takara, and drummer Ricardo di Roberto. Drawing heavy influence from punk pioneers like the Ramones and Buzzcocks, alongside alternative rock icons such as Green Day, Pennywise, Weezer, and the Smashing Pumpkins, CPM 22 crafted a distinct sound that blends high-energy punk with catchy melodies.

After honing their style with late-’90s demos, they independently released their debut album, "A Alguns Quilômetros de Lugar Nenhum" (2000). Their breakthrough came with the self-titled "CPM 22" (2001) and "Chegou a Hora de Recomeçar" (2002), both released under Abril Music. These albums featured enduring hits like "Regina Let's Go," "Tarde de Outubro," and "Desconfio," selling over 330,000 copies and cementing their place in Brazil’s rock landscape.

Signing with Sony BMG led to the release of "Felicidade Instantânea" (2005), which included fan favorites such as "Irresversível" and "Um Minuto Para o Fim do Mundo." Despite some criticism from punk purists over their mainstream success, CPM 22 reaffirmed their roots with the powerful live album "MTV ao Vivo" (2006), highlighted by the hit "Inevitável." Today, CPM 22 remains one of Brazil’s most beloved rock acts, celebrated for their energetic performances and lasting influence on the country’s punk-pop scene.
