About Marcel Sletten

Marcel Sletten is an innovative electronic music producer, composer, writer, and visual artist based in Athens, Georgia. Since founding the independent record label Primordial Void in 2018, Sletten has established himself as a versatile creative force within the experimental and indie music scenes. Alongside running Primordial Void as founder, curator, and art director, he launched the music blog and mix series Cosmic Trattoria in 2020, showcasing his eclectic taste and deep commitment to avant-garde soundscapes.

Musically, Sletten leads Chairs, Primordial Void’s in-house recording project, while exploring diverse sonic territories through side ventures including baird, LAMB, Miracle House, and Sutro Baths. His multi-instrumental talents extended to playing keyboards with the Elephant 6 collective band the Rishis from 2023 to 2025, collaborating with members of Neutral Milk Hotel, Olivia Tremor Control, and Elf Power.

Marcel Sletten’s performances have brought him alongside prominent contemporary artists such as DJ Python, Jeff Witscher, Theodore Cale Schafer, and More Eaze. His stature as a tastemaker is further confirmed through his handpicked appearance at the 2022 Cloud Recordings Festival by curator John Kiran Fernandes. Through Primordial Void, Sletten has championed releases and commissioned works from respected musicians including Gerard Love (Teenage Fanclub), Robert Schneider (Apples in Stereo), Yellow Swans, Twig Harper, Cucina Povera, and Jeff Witscher. His DJ mixes, featured on platforms like Blowing Up The Workshop and C Minus, underscore his dedicated role in cultivating adventurous, boundary-pushing electronic music.

Marcel Sletten continues to push the frontiers of sound art and electronic music, melding composition, performance, and curation into a singularly visionary practice.
