About New Young Pony Club

New Young Pony Club is a London-based indie dance duo formed in 2003 by friends Tahita Bulmer and Andy Spence. Drawing inspiration from pioneering post-punk and dance acts like ESG and Gang of Four, they developed a distinctive blend of electropop infused with punk funk. Their breakthrough came in 2005 with the release of "Ice Cream," a limited run of 1,000 hand-stamped vinyl singles on Tirk Records that sold out rapidly, generating significant international buzz. This momentum was sustained with their follow-up single, "The Get Go," which gained acclaim from UK music press and influential music blogs.

To meet growing demand for live shows, New Young Pony Club expanded their lineup by adding longtime collaborators Lou Hayter on keyboards and Sarah Jones on drums. This enhanced ensemble led to a recording contract with Modular/Island Recordings and the release of their debut album, "Fantastic Playroom" (2007). The album earned critical praise and a prestigious Mercury Music Prize nomination, firmly establishing them in the British indie scene.

After extensive touring, New Young Pony Club returned in 2010 with their sophomore album, "The Optimist," released on their own label, The Numbers. Featuring singles like "Lost a Girl," "Chaos," and "We Want To," the album showcased their evolving sound. In 2013, the duo returned to their core formation for their third album, "NYPC," delivering standout tracks such as "Hard Knocks," "Things Like You," and "Sure As the Sun," all while maintaining their signature energetic and innovative style.

New Young Pony Club remains a compelling force in the indie dance genre, continuously blending catchy melodies with vibrant rhythms to captivate audiences worldwide.
