About Aspyrian

Aspyrian is a London-based jazz trio comprised of Robin Porter on saxophones and effects, Jack Gillen on guitar and effects, and Matt Parkinson on drums. Since their formation, they have quickly gained recognition as one of the UK jazz scene’s most innovative and ambitious new acts. Their distinctive sound fuses contemporary jazz with soulful songwriting and alternative influences, seamlessly blending intricate compositions, rich improvisation, and immersive textures.

The trio has released three albums to date, including the critically acclaimed 2024 record "to explore (vol. 2)," which amassed thousands of streams and earned placements on major jazz playlists. Their latest offering, "Live at The Jazz Glad Festival," captures their dynamic chemistry and improvisational prowess, receiving praise from UK Jazz News for showcasing the group’s remarkable unity and creative spontaneity.

Aspyrian's live performances are a cornerstone of their growing reputation. They have played over 50 shows, with highlights including a sold-out concert at the 2022 EFG London Jazz Festival and headline appearances at prominent venues such as PizzaExpress Live and The Jazz Centre UK. Supported by two awards from Help Musicians and multiple national tours across the UK and Ireland, Aspyrian continues to push the boundaries of the modern jazz trio. Their music represents an evolving journey that captivates audiences through storytelling, experimentation, and a fresh reinterpretation of jazz traditions.
