About Matthias Reim

Matthias Reim, born in 1957, is a renowned German singer-songwriter celebrated for his enduring influence on the schlager music scene. Before stepping into the spotlight, Reim honed his craft writing songs for prominent artists such as Bernhard Brink, Roberto Blanco, and Tina York. His solo career skyrocketed in 1990 with the release of his debut album "Reim," propelled by the smash hit single "Verdammt, ich lieb’ dich." This song famously held the number one spot on the German charts for an impressive 16 weeks, equaling a long-standing record set by Boney M.

Throughout the 1990s, Reim maintained his popularity with a string of commercially successful albums that solidified his status in German pop music. However, financial troubles arose from risky business ventures, including investments in computer stores and hair salons, leading to bankruptcy. Personal challenges also marked his journey; Reim experienced three failed marriages and fathered four children, notably including a daughter with famed German singer Michelle.

Drawing from these hardships, Reim released the introspective album "Männer sind Krieger" (2007), which received critical acclaim for its heartfelt narratives. His comeback continued with "Sieben Leben" (2010), accompanied by a concert tour and live recording. In 2013, Reim reached the pinnacle of his revival with "Unendlich," an album that topped German charts and was reissued as a special holiday edition. Matthias Reim’s career is a testament to resilience and artistic vitality, blending emotional storytelling with memorable melodies that continue to resonate with audiences.
