About Garfunkel and Oates

Garfunkel and Oates is an American comedy folk duo formed in 2007 by actresses Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome. Combining witty humor with melodic folk music, the pair adopted their playful stage names after the iconic duo Simon & Garfunkel, with Lindhome performing as "Garfunkel" on guitar and Micucci as "Oates," drawing on her classical piano training. Their collaboration began when Lindhome needed original songs for her short film "Imaginary Larry," sparking a partnership that created clever, lighthearted tunes tackling quirky and often unconventional topics—from the arrogance of pregnant women to amusing duck mating rituals.

The duo’s breakthrough came in 2009 when their cheeky song "Fuck You," edited for TV, was featured on the popular series *Scrubs,* significantly expanding their audience. That same year, Garfunkel and Oates released their debut album, *Music Songs* (2009), which showcased their unique blend of sharp satire and catchy melodies. Praised by *The Wall Street Journal* as “the female Flight of the Conchords,” they stand out for their sharp songwriting, comedic timing, and musicality.
