About Cosmos Quartet

Founded in Barcelona in 2014, Cosmos Quartet has quickly risen to prominence as one of the most distinctive string ensembles of its generation. Known for their genuine, elegant, and emotionally rich performances, the quartet bridges a diverse repertoire that spans classical masterpieces from the 18th century to innovative contemporary compositions. Their artistry is deeply shaped by rigorous training within the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) and advanced studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hannover, where they worked closely with celebrated mentors such as Hatto Beyerle, Johannes Meissl, Oliver Wille, Rainer Schmidt, and Jonathan Brown.

Cosmos Quartet’s exceptional talent has been recognized internationally through prestigious competitions. They won First Prize at the Irene Steels-Wilsing Foundation Competition and the 13th Premi BBVA de Música de Cambra Montserrat Alavedra, both in 2018. Additionally, they earned third prizes at the renowned Joseph Joachim Chamber Music Competition (2019) and the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition (2015). Their commitment to innovation is evident in their championing of contemporary composers like Raquel García-Tomás, Jörg Widmann, Joan Magrané, Mauricio Sotelo, and Sky Macklay, premiering new works that expand the modern chamber music repertoire.

Performing exclusively on bespoke instruments crafted by the acclaimed Catalan luthier David Bagué, Cosmos Quartet continues to captivate audiences worldwide, blending tradition with fresh, expressive interpretations. Their evolving profile makes them a vital force in today’s chamber music landscape.
