About Giorgio Moroder

Giorgio Moroder, born on April 26, 1940, in Ortisei, Italy, is a legendary pioneer of electronic and disco music whose influence spans decades. Starting his career as a teenage guitarist touring Europe, Moroder eventually settled in Munich, where he founded the iconic Musicland Studios. His groundbreaking partnership with singer Donna Summer and songwriter Pete Bellotte in the 1970s produced some of disco’s most defining tracks, including "Love to Love You Baby" (1975), the revolutionary "I Feel Love" (1977), and "Last Dance" (1978). These songs, characterized by their hypnotic, synthesized rhythms, helped establish the blueprint for modern electronic dance music.

Beyond the dance floor, Giorgio Moroder earned widespread acclaim as a film composer, winning multiple Academy Awards for the soundtracks to "Midnight Express" (1978), "Flashdance" (1983)—notably the hit "Flashdance... What a Feeling"—and "Top Gun" (1986) with "Take My Breath Away." His daring electronic score for the restored version of Fritz Lang’s classic "Metropolis" (1984) further showcased his visionary approach to music.

After shifting focus during the 1990s to remixing and producing various rock and pop acts, Moroder experienced a celebrated revival in the 2010s. He contributed to Daft Punk’s acclaimed album "Random Access Memories" (2013) and released his dance-pop comeback album "Déjà Vu" (2015), collaborating with stars like Kylie Minogue, Sia, and Britney Spears. Giorgio Moroder’s enduring career continues to bridge the golden era of disco with today’s electronic innovation, securing his place as a true music icon.
