About Kate Bollinger

Kate Bollinger is a singer-songwriter hailing from Charlottesville, Virginia, rooted in a family with a rich musical background—her mother was a music therapist, and her two older brothers played in local bands. She began cultivating her talents early, performing with the Ash Lawn Opera during childhood summers and writing songs that her brother Will recorded and shared on SoundCloud in 2011, marking the start of her independent music career.

While pursuing studies in poetry and cinematography, Bollinger continued self-releasing her folk-pop songs, slowly gaining critical attention from prominent outlets like The New York Times and NPR. She formed a band to release her debut EP, "I Don’t Wanna Lose," followed by 2020’s "A Word Becomes a Sound." In 2022, she signed with Ghostly International to release "Look at It in the Light," an album that gracefully blends 1960s folk-pop warmth with 1990s indie rock sensibilities.

Now based in Los Angeles, Bollinger balances recording new material with collaborations alongside artists such as Drugdealer and Paul Cherry. She has toured extensively with notable musicians including Faye Webster, Tennis, and Devendra Banhart. Beyond music, she has expanded her creative pursuits by directing music videos for both her own work and fellow artists like Jessica Pratt. Her highly anticipated full-length album, "Songs From A Thousand Frames Of Mind," released in late summer 2024, showcases her evolution from intimate bedroom recordings to a sophisticated indie-pop sound, weaving stream-of-consciousness lyrics with eclectic melodies and classic instrumentation.
