About Rodrigo Amarante

Rodrigo Amarante, a gifted singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Rio de Janeiro, stands as one of Brazil’s most versatile and internationally acclaimed musical talents. He first gained widespread recognition as a key member of the influential Brazilian rock band Los Hermanos and as part of the samba ensemble Orquestra Imperial. Amarante’s creative horizons expanded further when he co-founded the indie rock supergroup Little Joy (2008) alongside Fab Moretti and Binki Shapiro, marking his growing presence in the global music scene.

Amarante’s signature blend of samba, bossa nova, and rock shines through his solo career, which took off with the critically praised album *Cavalo* (2014). That record established his reputation for intimate storytelling and intricate arrangements. He followed it with *Drama* (2021), an album noted for its cinematic scope and emotional depth. *Drama* explores themes of memory, love, and deception, weaving lush tropical rhythms with nostalgic melodies in tracks like the warm, danceable "Tango" and the reflective closing piece "The End."

Beyond his solo work, Rodrigo Amarante gained immense international attention with "Tuyo," the haunting theme song for Netflix’s hit series *Narcos*. His collaborations with celebrated artists such as Gal Costa, Norah Jones, and Gilberto Gil further demonstrate his musical versatility and deep-rooted connection to Brazilian traditions blended with contemporary sounds.
