About Los Planetas

Los Planetas is one of Spain’s most influential and legendary rock bands, emerging from humble beginnings among friends in the early 1990s. After signing with RCA in 1993, they released their debut album, "Súper 8," which combined catchy pop melodies with distorted guitar sounds and enigmatic lyrics that quickly resonated with a young audience. Their follow-up record, "Pop," delved into punk-pop territory, while "Una semana en el motor de un autobús" (1998) became a defining, heartfelt milestone in their career, solidifying their place in the Spanish indie rock scene.

Continuing to evolve, Los Planetas delivered acclaimed albums such as "Unidad de desplazamiento" and "Encuentros con entidades," showcasing some of their finest work. A turning point arrived with "Contra la ley de la gravedad," where the band boldly fused traditional flamenco with rock—an innovative blend that culminated in "La leyenda del espacio," a groundbreaking tribute to flamenco icon Camarón de la Isla and a landmark in Spanish music history. This flamenco-rock fusion expanded further in "Cuatro palos," setting the stage for the psychedelic tones of "Una ópera egipcia."

In recent years, Los Planetas have continued to push creative boundaries with albums like "Dobles fatigas" and the critically acclaimed "Zona Temporalmente Autónoma" (2017). Their collaboration with Niño de Elche on "Fuerza nueva" (2019) exemplifies their commitment to musical innovation. Their latest album, "Las canciones del agua," reflects their ongoing artistic evolution. Throughout their enduring career, Los Planetas have consistently redefined Spanish indie rock by blending diverse genres and maintaining a deep connection with their audience.
