About Lagartija Nick

Lagartija Nick is a Spanish rock band known for its bold innovation and experimental soundscapes since its formation in 1991. Founded by vocalist Antonio Arias alongside drummer Eric Jiménez and guitarists Juan Codorniú and M.A.R. Pareja, the group quickly established a distinctive musical identity with their debut album, "Hipnosis" (1991). This release set the tone for their signature blend of electrified tension and futuristic atmospheres, marking them as pioneers in Spain's alternative music scene.

Throughout their extensive career, Lagartija Nick has fearlessly pushed the boundaries of rock, embracing diverse musical styles and artistic experimentation. Their sound defies easy categorization, combining passionate intensity with avant-garde influences. A notable aspect of their work is their deep engagement with Spain’s cultural heritage, evidenced by collaborations that intertwine the poetry of Federico García Lorca, the surreal cinematic vision of Luis Buñuel, and the avant-garde filmmaking of José Val del Omar. The aphorism “He who loves, burns. And he who burns, flies at the speed of light,” drawn from Val del Omar, encapsulates the fiery spirit of the band.

By fusing literary and cinematic influences with innovative music, Lagartija Nick has crafted a rich artistic palette that transcends traditional rock boundaries. Their fearless approach and creative depth have secured their place as one of Spain’s most dynamic and culturally significant bands.
