About Beirut

Beirut is the brainchild of American musician Zach Condon, emerging in 2006 from New Mexico with a sound that masterfully fuses indie rock, baroque pop, and world music influences—most notably from Eastern Europe. What began as Condon’s teenage bedroom recordings evolved into a distinctive blend of folk traditions, electronic elements, and indie sensibilities, establishing Beirut as a singular force within the indie music scene.

The project gained acclaim through its rich instrumentation and evocative melodies, with standout hits that helped shape its reputation for merging eclectic global sounds with heartfelt lyricism. Beirut’s music captures a timeless quality, blending brass, strings, and percussion to create a nostalgic yet fresh sonic landscape.

In 2022, Beirut released "Artifacts," a comprehensive double album originally intended as a reissue of early EPs. This ambitious collection delves into Condon’s musical archives, featuring remastered recordings and unreleased tracks dating back to when he was just fourteen. Praised by critics as an “eccentric musical triumph” and “a treasure trove for fans,” "Artifacts" chronicles the artistic growth and evolving sound that have come to define Beirut's enduring appeal. Over the years, Zach Condon’s experimentation with electronic textures and folk-inspired arrangements has solidified Beirut’s position as an innovative and beloved project in contemporary indie music.
