About Gia Margaret

Gia Margaret is a Chicago-based American singer-songwriter and pianist whose music gracefully weaves together indie folk, ambient soundscapes, and neoclassical piano compositions. Initially trained as a composition student, Margaret left music school before completing her studies, drawn more to the introspective nature of film scoring than traditional orchestral performance. This foundational background deeply informs her signature sound—marked by minimalist arrangements and emotional subtlety.

Her debut album, "There’s Always Glimmer" (2018), established her as a compelling voice in contemporary indie music, celebrated for its intimate storytelling and lyrical vulnerability. However, when a vocal illness during a tour rendered her unable to sing, Margaret pivoted artistically, releasing "Mia Gargaret" (2020), an ambient project that highlights her keen sense of arrangement and atmospheric textures beyond conventional songwriting.

Margaret’s 2019 release, "Romantic Piano," further deepened her exploration of instrumental music, channeling influences from classical and neoclassical composers like Erik Satie, Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guébrou, and Masakatsu Takagi. This album eschews traditional love themes, instead capturing a Romantic-era spirit through its contemplative mood—evoking solitude, nature’s beauty, and a quiet melancholy reminiscent of film scores.
