About Raekwon

Raekwon, born Corey Woods, is a seminal figure in hip-hop and a core member of the Staten Island-based Wu-Tang Clan. Nicknamed "the Chef" for his ability to craft intricate lyrical narratives, Raekwon rose to prominence with his standout verse on the 1993 Wu-Tang debut, *Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)*, particularly on the gold-certified hit "C.R.E.A.M." His solo breakthrough came with *Only Built 4 Cuban Linx* (1995), an RZA-produced classic that peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 and achieved gold status. The album is celebrated for its vivid, cinematic storytelling and Mafia-inspired themes, featuring close collaborations with Ghostface Killah, who appears prominently throughout.

Raekwon continued to evolve with subsequent albums such as *Immobilarity* (1999), which debuted in the Top Ten despite mixed reviews due to the absence of RZA and Ghostface. He maintained his creative momentum through releases like *The Lex Diamond Story* (2003) and the highly anticipated sequel *Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... Pt. II* (2009), showcasing production from legends including J Dilla, Dr. Dre, and Pete Rock. Beyond his solo work, Raekwon has remained a vital part of Wu-Tang projects like *Wu Massacre* (2010) and *A Better Tomorrow* (2014).

Raekwon's extensive catalog also includes *Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang* (2011), featuring Nas and Rick Ross, and the *Lost Jewelry* EP (2012). Known for blending gritty street tales with collaborative chemistry, Raekwon’s enduring influence and innovative approach have solidified his standing as a respected and influential voice in hip-hop history.
