About London Gay Big Band

Founded in 2011, the London Gay Big Band is a vibrant twenty-piece jazz orchestra that primarily features LGBT musicians and vocalists while embracing talent from all backgrounds. Known for injecting electrifying energy and sophistication into the contemporary jazz scene, the band has become a distinctive fixture in London’s musical landscape. Their dynamic performances have thrilled audiences at prestigious venues such as the BST Hyde Park Festival, Southbank Centre, Trafalgar Square Pride main stage, the Roundhouse, and Hackney Empire. Notably, they also appeared at BT London Live celebrations in 2012, coinciding with the Olympic Games.

The band’s popularity soared in 2014 when they reached the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent, captivating a television audience of seven million with their spirited performances. Building on this momentum, London Gay Big Band released their debut album, "BRAVE" (2014), recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios. This polished collection highlights collaborations with acclaimed British jazz and West End vocalists including Ian Shaw, Clare Teal, Claire Martin, and Emma Hatton. Throughout their journey, the London Gay Big Band has remained committed to musical excellence and inclusivity, showcasing a bold artistic vision that celebrates diversity within the jazz community. Their enduring appeal lies in pairing powerful musicianship with vibrant representation, making them a truly trailblazing force in modern jazz.
