About 12 Stones

12 Stones is a rock band that originated in Mandeville, Louisiana, in 2000, formed by teenagers Paul McCoy (vocals), Kevin Dorr (bass), Eric Weaver (guitar), and Aaron Gainer (drums). Their swift ascent began after merely a dozen live shows, culminating in a crucial industry showcase in New York City that secured them a deal with Wind-Up Records. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2002 and produced by Jay Baumgardner, solidified their presence in the alternative rock scene.

The band’s breakthrough came in 2003 when frontman Paul McCoy gained widespread acclaim through his duet with Evanescence on the chart-topping single "Bring Me to Life," featured on both the *Daredevil* soundtrack and Evanescence’s platinum-selling album *Fallen*. This collaboration propelled 12 Stones to broader recognition.

Following their debut, 12 Stones released *Potter’s Field* (2004), which showcased a heavier, guitar-driven sound. After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the band relocated to Memphis to record *Anthem for the Underdog* (2007), an album deeply influenced by the catastrophe and produced by Justin Rimer and Skidd Mills. The lineup shifted in 2010 with Kevin Dorr’s return and the addition of drummer Mike McManus, resulting in the EP "The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday." Later albums included *Beneath the Scars* (2012), which featured singles like "Bulletproof" and "Infected," followed by *Picture Perfect* (2017) under Cleopatra Records, further reflecting the band’s resilience and evolving rock energy.

Throughout their career, 12 Stones has maintained a dynamic presence in alternative rock, combining raw emotion and melodic intensity, securing their place as enduring figures in the genre.
