About Radiohead

Radiohead, formed in 1985 by schoolmates at Oxfordshire’s Abingdon School, quickly emerged as one of the most influential and innovative bands in modern rock. Originally performing under the name On a Friday, they adopted the Radiohead moniker upon signing with EMI in 1991. The lineup features Thom Yorke (vocals, guitar, piano), Ed O’Brien (guitar), Colin Greenwood (bass), Jonny Greenwood (guitar, keyboards), and Phil Selway (drums).

Their breakthrough came with the 1993 debut album "Pablo Honey," propelled by the single "Creep." Though initially overlooked in the UK, "Creep" became a defining alternative rock anthem in the United States, securing Radiohead’s place in the burgeoning alternative scene. The band’s sound evolved with "The Bends" (1995), signaling a new level of artistic ambition and critical praise. Their 1997 masterpiece "OK Computer" transformed their career and alternative rock itself, topping charts on both sides of the Atlantic and earning a Grammy for Best Alternative Album. The album’s fusion of electronics, complex arrangements, and introspective lyrics set a new benchmark for rock music.

Radiohead continued to push boundaries with "Kid A" (2000) and "Amnesiac" (2001), blending electronic, avant-garde jazz, and experimental sounds. Their release strategy for "In Rainbows" (2007), which employed a pay-what-you-want model, was heralded as a bold shift in the music industry. Later albums like "The King of Limbs" (2011) and "A Moon Shaped Pool" (2016) further showcased their fearless artistic evolution. Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019, the band members have also explored solo and collaborative projects, cementing Radiohead’s legacy as true pioneers in rock’s ongoing reinvention.
