About Wiz Khalifa

Wiz Khalifa, born Cameron Thomaz in 1987 in Minot, North Dakota, is a Pittsburgh-based rapper known for his seamless fusion of catchy pop hooks and laid-back stoner rap vibes. Growing up as a military brat, he moved frequently before settling in Pittsburgh, where he began writing lyrics at nine and recording in his father’s Oklahoma studio by age twelve. His early work, including the 2006 mixtape "Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania" and independent debut "Show and Prove" (2006), helped him build a loyal fanbase. After gaining initial exposure through Rostrum Records and a brief stint with Warner Bros., Wiz Khalifa skyrocketed to mainstream success with Atlantic Records. His 2011 major-label debut "Rolling Papers" featured the anthem "Black and Yellow," which topped charts and became an unofficial Pittsburgh Steelers anthem.

Throughout his career, Wiz Khalifa has continued to evolve with albums like "O.N.I.F.C." (2012), "Blacc Hollywood" (2014), and "Rolling Papers 2" (2018). His heartfelt 2015 collaboration "See You Again," featuring Charlie Puth for the "Furious 7" soundtrack, dominated charts for weeks, becoming one of his most iconic hits. Known for his versatile collaborations with artists such as Snoop Dogg, Travis Scott, and Megan Thee Stallion, Wiz showcases adaptability and creativity. His 2022 album "Multiverse" reflects a more introspective turn, exploring fatherhood and personal growth, marking his continued artistic maturity in hip-hop’s evolving landscape.
