About Carlão

Carlão is a seminal figure in Portugal’s music landscape, revered for his poetic lyrics and enduring cultural impact. Emerging initially under the moniker Pacman, he co-founded the groundbreaking urban group Da Weasel alongside his brother J. Nobre. This pioneering band played a crucial role in defining Portuguese hip-hop, cementing Carlão’s status as a trailblazer in the nation’s urban music scene.

As a solo artist, Carlão has continually evolved, showcasing remarkable versatility across his discography. His albums *Quarenta* (2019) and *Entretenimento?* (2022), along with the EP *Na Batalha* (2021), highlight his ability to blend genres such as hip-hop, funaná, traditional Portuguese sounds, and electronic music. Tracks like "Os Tais" and the anthem "Assobia Para O Lado" resonated deeply with listeners, with the latter becoming especially poignant during Portugal’s pandemic lockdown.
