About Atlas Sound

Atlas Sound is the solo project of Bradford Cox, the innovative frontman of the experimental indie rock band Deerhunter. Born in 1982 in Athens, Georgia, Cox was shaped by the city’s vibrant music scene and artists like the B-52’s, notably the late guitarist Ricky Wilson. After co-founding Deerhunter with Moses Archuleta in 2001, Cox began exploring his personal artistic vision through Atlas Sound, initially releasing a series of EPs and split vinyl records.

In 2008, he made a striking statement with his full-length debut, "Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel," which earned critical acclaim for its eclectic blend of doo-wop, electronica, and influences from icons such as Elvis Presley. Despite challenges—including an early leak of unfinished tracks—Cox refined his work and followed up with "Logos" (2009), an album that further pushed the boundaries of indie experimentation. His 2011 release, "Parallax," continued this trajectory, solidifying Atlas Sound’s reputation as a compelling outlet for Cox’s restless creativity.

Atlas Sound stands as a unique and ever-evolving project, showcasing Bradford Cox’s talent for blending genres and creating immersive soundscapes. It remains a vital force in the indie music landscape, celebrated for its daring approach and emotional depth.
