About The Faint

The Faint, hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, stand as pioneers of electro-punk and dance-punk, playing a critical role in the resurgence of New Wave music in the late 1990s. Originally formed under the name Norman Bailer, the band—featuring Todd Fink (formerly Todd Baechle), Clark Baechle, and Joel Petersen—began by exploring lo-fi pop and punk before evolving into a distinctive, synth-driven powerhouse. Their sound crystalized with the addition of keyboardist Jacob Thiele in 1998, culminating in their breakthrough album "Blank-Wave Arcade" (1999). This release combined catchy ’80s-inspired synth beats with themes of mass consumption and sexuality, earning acclaim for both its innovation and the band’s electrifying live shows, often highlighted by DIY light displays.

Following this, "Danse Macabre" (2001) showcased a darker and more aggressive dance aesthetic, becoming one of Saddle Creek Records’ best-selling albums and solidifying The Faint’s reputation for crafting sweaty, floor-filling anthems. The inclusion of guitarist Dapose, known for his death metal background, further deepened their unique sound. Subsequent albums like "Wet from Birth" (2004) and "Fasciinatiion" (2008)—the latter released on their own Blank.Wav label—demonstrated a refined electronic edge and ongoing evolution. After lineup changes, including Thiele’s departure in 2016 and the arrival of Graham Ulicny from Reptar, The Faint returned in 2019 with "Egowerk," reaffirming their enduring influence and relentless energy in the electro-punk scene. Over more than two decades, The Faint have remained at the forefront of genre-bending music, shaping both the Omaha scene and the global indie electronic landscape.
