About Galerna

Galerna is a dynamic musical collective hailing from Bilbao, Spain, formed by a group of close-knit friends bonded through their shared passions for surfing and music since their teenage years. The band’s core members—Mario, Miguel, Carlos, Lucas, and Guillermo—have been joined at various points by Pablo and Javier, together crafting a sound deeply rooted in their Basque coastal identity. Their musical journey began in the chilly, unheated confines of Miguel’s grandparents’ old apartment in San Vicente de la Barquera, where the group transformed a modest space—complete with a wall piano and a vintage drum set—into a creative haven. There, amidst surf trips and nights camping under the stars along the beaches of Vizcaya and Cantabria, they improvised many of Mario’s early songs, dreaming of one day turning their passion into a band.

In 2021, Galerna’s vision crystallized when Miguel, Javier, and Mario rented a room overlooking Sopelana beach to record their first demo, the spirited "Esta Noche es Mía" (2021). This debut marked the official start of their musical trajectory, showcasing a fresh blend of contemporary sounds infused with their coastal Basque roots. By weaving together the energy of their surfing lifestyle with their musical creativity, Galerna has emerged as a vibrant new voice in Spain’s indie landscape, steadily growing their presence and captivating audiences with their authentic storytelling and sun-soaked melodies.
