About Goldfrapp

Goldfrapp is a critically acclaimed electronic music duo originating from Bath, England, formed in 1999 by vocalist and songwriter Alison Goldfrapp and composer Will Gregory. Alison’s artistic roots trace back to fine art studies at Middlesex University, where she combined sound, visuals, and performance art. Before teaming up with Gregory, she contributed vocals to Tricky’s landmark 1995 album "Maxinquaye" and collaborated with electronic acts like Orbital and Add N to (X). Their discovery of Alison’s demos through mutual friends led to their partnership and signing with Mute Records.

Goldfrapp first captured attention with their debut album "Felt Mountain" (2000), noted for its cinematic, trip-hop-infused sound. They evolved stylistically with "Black Cherry" (2003), incorporating glam rock and disco influences, and achieved mainstream dance success with "Supernature" (2005), featuring the hit "Ooh La La." Their versatility shone in "The Seventh Tree" (2008), which embraced lush acoustic textures, and through composing the orchestral score for the film "Nowhere Boy" (2009), recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

Continuing to push creative boundaries, Goldfrapp explored Italo-disco vibes on "Head First" (2010), and delivered the ethereal, cinematic "Tales of Us" (2013), accompanied by short films directed by Alison’s partner Lisa Gunning. Their most recent album, "Silver Eye" (2017), showcases eclectic experimentation alongside producers like John Congleton and the Haxan Cloak. Over two decades, Goldfrapp has garnered multiple awards, including an Ivor Novello and MTV Europe Music Awards, solidifying their status as pioneers in British synth-pop and electronic music.
