About Lucas Herrera Fernández

Lucas Herrera Fernández is a renowned pianist, composer, and educator from Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a profound dedication to jazz and contemporary musical expression. At 36 years old, he has built a dynamic career that intertwines traditional jazz with the vibrant cultural influences of his hometown. Currently, Lucas leads jazz quartets aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines as both pianist and bandleader, while also pursuing his own creative projects.

His discography includes two albums: "Un punto azul pálido" (2015) and the recent "Puerto itinerante" (2023). The latter features nine original compositions that skillfully fuse instrumental jazz with the rich musical heritage of Buenos Aires, reflecting his innovative approach to the genre. Beyond live performance and recording, Lucas has expanded his artistry into visual media by composing the soundtrack for the documentary series "Los visuales," which aired on Argentina’s Channel Encuentro between 2016 and 2017.

Lucas Herrera Fernández is also notable for his interdisciplinary collaborations within Buenos Aires’s prominent museum scene. He has performed and contributed original contemporary pieces to exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art (MAMBA) and the National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA), working alongside artist Juan Cristóbal Sleigh on presentations honoring icons like León Ferrari and Pablo Picasso. His work continuously enriches Argentina’s jazz landscape by blending tradition with innovation, making him a significant figure in modern Latin American music.
