About Leftfield

Leftfield, formed in 1988 by Neil Barnes and Paul Daley, stands as one of the most groundbreaking and influential acts in electronic dance music. Renowned for pioneering a rich and innovative sound, the duo quickly gained acclaim with their debut album "Leftism" (1995), which, alongside their follow-up "Rhythm & Stealth" (1999), earned Mercury Music Prize nominations and solidified their legacy. Both albums showcased a unique blend of deep house, dub, and techno influences, setting a high bar for electronic music with their layered production and compelling live performances.

After a hiatus beginning in 2002, Leftfield made a triumphant return in 2010, with Barnes leading live shows revitalizing their presence on the dance scene. Their comeback album "Alternative Light Source" (2015) marked their first studio release in sixteen years and attracted wide critical praise from outlets like The Guardian, Mojo, and Uncut. This album featured collaborations with notable artists such as Jason Williamson of Sleaford Mods and Tunde Adebimpe from TV on the Radio, reflecting Leftfield’s continued commitment to innovative partnerships.

In 2017, they celebrated their enduring influence by remastering "Leftism" with a fresh set of remixes, bridging their past with contemporary sounds. Their latest album, "This Is What We Do" (2022), was met with enthusiasm for its vibrant energy and emotive diversity. Critics hailed it as a fusion of fiery beats and healing positivity, reinforcing Leftfield’s position as a seminal force shaping the evolution of electronic music across decades.
