About Fleet Foxes

Emerging from Seattle’s thriving music scene in 2006, Fleet Foxes quickly became a flagship band of the late-2000s indie folk revival. Founded by longtime friends Robin Pecknold (lead vocals, guitar) and Skyler Skjelset (guitar, mandolin, vocals), the group expanded to include Casey Wescott (keyboards, mandolin, vocals), Christian Wargo (bass, guitar, vocals), and Nicholas Peterson (drums, vocals). Their signature sound blends rich, layered vocal harmonies inspired by ‘60s baroque pop and British folk with polished, modern folk-rock elements, drawing subtle influences from classic acts like the Beach Boys and Fairport Convention.

Signed to Sub Pop Records, Fleet Foxes released their acclaimed debut EP, "Sun Giant" (2008), alongside their self-titled album "Fleet Foxes" (2008), both produced by Phil Ek. The full-length album achieved platinum status in Europe and topped numerous year-end critics’ lists. Drummer Josh Tillman’s departure, who later found success as Father John Misty, preceded their Grammy-nominated sophomore album, "Helplessness Blues" (2011), which marked a cohesive, expansive evolution in their sound.

After a hiatus during which Pecknold pursued studies at Columbia University, Fleet Foxes returned with the more progressive "Crack-Up" (2017) on Nonesuch Records. Their fourth album, "Shore" (2020), was surprise-released on the autumnal equinox and accompanied by a 55-minute film. It earned another Grammy nod, reaffirming Fleet Foxes as enduring innovators in contemporary folk music, known for crafting timeless melodies rooted in tradition but refreshingly contemporary in spirit.
