About Skank

Formed in March 1991 in Belo Horizonte, Skank is a seminal Brazilian band celebrated for their innovative fusion of pop, rock, and reggae. The group, composed of Samuel Rosa, Henrique Portugal, Lelo Zaneti, and Haroldo Ferretti, rose to prominence as one of Brazil’s most influential alternative acts, skillfully blending infectious reggae grooves with rock energy and catchy pop melodies. Over a career spanning more than three decades, Skank earned critical acclaim and commercial success, including prestigious Latin Grammy Awards, solidifying their status as pioneers of Brazilian reggae rock.

Skank’s sound resonated deeply across Brazil and Latin America, producing memorable hits that have become staples of contemporary Brazilian music. Their dynamic performances and compelling songwriting captivated fans, making them a beloved fixture on national and international stages.

In 2022, Skank announced their farewell with the "Turnê de Despedida," a nationwide tour that celebrated their enduring legacy one final time. The emotional journey culminated in a landmark concert on March 26, 2023, at Belo Horizonte’s Mineirão Stadium, where over 50,000 fans gathered for their closing show. This grand finale featured a special guest appearance by legendary Brazilian musician Milton Nascimento, symbolizing a meaningful tribute to Skank’s influential role in Brazil’s musical landscape.
