About DEHD

Chicago-based indie rock band Dehd has steadily carved out a distinctive place in the underground music scene since their formation in 2015. Comprised of Emily Kempf (bass, vocals), Jason Balla (guitar, vocals), and Eric McGrady (drums), the trio blends raw garage rock energy with dreamy, melodic indie sensibilities. Their sound features jangly guitar riffs, dynamic rhythms, and ethereal dual vocals that create a hypnotic yet honest atmosphere, rooted in a lo-fi aesthetic reminiscent of classic rock while feeling fresh and contemporary.

Dehd’s critically acclaimed albums, including "Water" (2019) and "Flower of Devotion" (2020), showcase their growth from scrappy beginnings to more polished, introspective songwriting. These records explore themes of relationships, personal growth, and urban life through catchy melodies and emotionally charged performances. The band’s authentic, unpolished style and compelling live shows have earned them a loyal fanbase and widespread praise.

Firmly rooted in Chicago’s vibrant music community, Dehd continues to push boundaries within indie and garage rock. Their evolving sound and unwavering artistic vision keep them at the forefront of the genre, appealing to listeners who appreciate heartfelt, energetic music that balances rawness with melody.
