About Eagles of Death Metal

Eagles of Death Metal is a vibrant garage rock duo formed in 1998 by lifelong friends Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme in Palm Desert, California. Despite their provocative name, their sound is a spirited fusion of garage rock, boogie, hard rock, glam, blues, and swamp rock influences, resulting in music that feels both nostalgically raw and refreshingly modern. Hughes, originally from Greenville, South Carolina, and Homme, famed for his work with Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age, began the project during a challenging period in Hughes’ life. Their debut album, "Peace Love Death Metal" (2004), captured a scrappy, spontaneous energy that quickly garnered attention.

The band’s subsequent releases, including "Death by Sexy" (2006) and "Heart On" (2008), showcased more polished production without losing their irreverent spirit. After a hiatus—during which Homme focused on Queens of the Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures, and Hughes released a solo album as Boots Electric—the duo returned with "Zipper Down" (2015). That same year, they faced a tragic turning point when their concert at Paris’s Bataclan was targeted in a terrorist attack, profoundly affecting the band and their fans.

Demonstrating resilience, Eagles of Death Metal responded with the covers album "The Eagles Of Death Metal Presents Boots Electric Performing The Best Songs We Never Wrote" (2019), reflecting music that helped Hughes heal. They continue to deliver energetic performances and live recordings like "I Love You All the Time: Live at the Olympia in Paris" (2017), honoring their gritty rock ‘n’ roll roots with wit, passion, and unwavering spirit.
