About Lokkhi Terra

Lokkhi Terra is a vibrant British world music collective renowned for its innovative fusion of Bengali folk traditions with Afro-Caribbean rhythms, jazz, dub, and roots reggae. Founded in London by keyboardist and producer Kishon Khan in the early 2000s, the group skillfully blends traditional instruments like the dotara and tabla with contemporary electronic beats and rich global sounds. Their debut album, "No Visa Required" (2007), marked their arrival with a fresh multicultural sound that quickly earned critical acclaim.

Lokkhi Terra’s evolving discography, including notable releases like "Che Guava’s Rickshaw Diaries" (2013), showcases their commitment to cultural preservation and musical experimentation. By weaving together elements from Bengali folk, Latin jazz, and reggae, the collective transcends geographic and generational boundaries, delivering a sonic experience that connects the rural villages of Bangladesh with urban dance floors worldwide.

Acclaimed for their dynamic and energetic live performances, Lokkhi Terra has captivated audiences at prestigious festivals and venues across Europe and beyond. Their music not only celebrates diversity through infectious rhythms and hypnotic melodies but also conveys socially conscious messages. Through seamless collaboration with international artists and a bold, boundary-pushing approach, Lokkhi Terra continues to inspire listeners, proving traditional folk music’s enduring power and adaptability in today’s global music landscape.
