About Dionysos

Celebrating over three decades of innovative music since their formation in Valence in 1993, Dionysos stands as one of France’s most imaginative and enduring rock bands. Originating from the humble beginnings of teenage friends jamming in a family garage, Dionysos has evolved into a sophisticated artistic collective known for blending indie and alternative rock with art rock experimentation. Fronted by the charismatic Mathias Malzieu—whose dynamic presence combines the whimsical spirit of Peter Pan with volcanic intensity—the band’s music balances raw, energetic performances with poetic and meticulously crafted lyrics.

In 2023, marking their 30th anniversary, Dionysos released "L’Extraordinarium," a landmark album that reinterprets their rich and diverse catalog through fresh arrangements and imaginative collaborations. Far beyond a traditional greatest hits compilation, this project highlights the band’s evolving artistry and visionary approach to songwriting, reaffirming their relevance in a competitive musical landscape.
