About Omar

Omar Lye-Fook, known mononymously as Omar, is a distinguished British soul singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose career has spanned over three decades. Born in Canterbury, England, Omar first rose to prominence in the early 1990s with his critically acclaimed debut album, "There's Nothing Like This" (1990). This record, celebrated for its smooth vocals and heartfelt songwriting, played a pivotal role in shaping the UK soul scene and remains a classic in the genre.

Omar’s music is characterized by an elegant fusion of soul, jazz, funk, and contemporary R&B, showcasing his versatile musicianship and rich melodic sensibility. Throughout his career, he has continually evolved, releasing notable albums such as "Music" (1992), "For Pleasure" (1994), and "The Man" (2013), each reflecting both artistic growth and his dedication to timeless soul traditions.

His collaborations with influential artists like Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Common, and The Roots attest to his broad appeal and respect within the global neo-soul and R&B communities. Beyond studio recordings, Omar is renowned for his electrifying live performances, which have captivated audiences at major festivals worldwide.
