About Fishbone

Fishbone has been a groundbreaking and influential force in alternative rock and funk since their formation in the late 1970s. Originating in high school as six young musicians performing under the name Megatron, the band soon rebranded as Fishbone with encouragement from fellow L.A. act The Bus Boys. Known for their electrifying live shows and genre-defying sound that blends ska, punk, funk, metal, and rock, Fishbone carved out a unique place in the music scene.

Their breakthrough came in 1984 when they signed with Columbia Records and released their self-titled debut EP, “Fishbone,” a six-track project that captured the industry’s attention and showcased their explosive energy. Over the next decade, Fishbone released four full-length albums and two more EPs with Columbia Records, navigating numerous lineup changes that kept their sound fresh and vibrant. Despite the revolving door of members, founding voices like Angelo Moore and Christopher Dowd helped maintain the band’s creative core.

In 2022, Fishbone reunited nearly their original lineup—featuring Moore, Dowd, longtime guitarist Mark Phillips, and the dynamic rhythm section of Aryon Davis and Hassan Hurd—to record a follow-up EP also titled “Fishbone,” produced by Fat Mike of NOFX. As of 2024, Fishbone remains a relentless touring band, continually reinventing themselves without losing the fiery spirit that has made them a red-hot, enduring icon in rock and alternative music history. Their legacy of innovation and high-octane performances ensures they remain both influential and unstoppable.
