About Clã

Clã, one of Portugal’s most enduring and sophisticated pop bands, formed in 1992 with an original lineup comprising Helder Gonçalves on piccolo bass, Manuela Azevedo as lead vocalist, Miguel Ferreira and Pedro Biscaia on keyboards, Pedro Rito on bass, and Fernando Gonçalves on drums. Their debut album, "LusoQualquerCoisa" (1996), released through EMI, introduced their refined pop sensibility and quickly established them as a vital force in the Portuguese music scene throughout the 1990s and 2000s.

Known for electrifying live performances that often surpassed their studio work, Clã’s music blends catchy melodies with a polished sound that has resonated with both fans and critics. Their 2007 album, "Cintura," peaked at number 13 on Portuguese charts, solidifying their commercial success. In 2011, the band took creative control by founding their own label, releasing "Disco Voador," a children’s album that garnered widespread acclaim and showcased their artistic versatility.

Clã continued to evolve with "Corrente" (2014), reaffirming their reputation for innovation within Portuguese pop. In 2017, they composed and performed the soundtrack for the musical "Fã," later issuing a dedicated album. Following lineup changes that introduced Pedro Oliveira (drums) and Pedro Santos (bass), Clã released "Véspera" in 2020, maintaining their relevance and creative vitality in Portugal’s music landscape. Their enduring career highlights a constant balance between artistic evolution and a distinct, accessible pop identity.
