About Eagles

The Eagles stand as one of the most iconic and influential rock bands to emerge from the 1970s, known for pioneering the quintessential California sound that seamlessly fused country, folk, and rock elements. Formed in Los Angeles in 1971, the band brought together musicians from diverse American backgrounds: Glenn Frey from Detroit, Don Henley from Texas, Bernie Leadon from Minnesota, and Randy Meisner from Nebraska. Initially serving as Linda Ronstadt’s backing band, they quickly gained attention after signing with David Geffen’s Asylum Records.

Their self-titled debut album, *Eagles* (1972), introduced the world to hits like "Take It Easy" and "Witchy Woman," laying the groundwork for their signature harmonious style. Albums like *Desperado* (1973) and *On the Border* (1974) further solidified their reputation. The band’s lineup evolved with the addition of guitarists Don Felder and Joe Walsh, and later, Timothy B. Schmit replaced Meisner. This lineup shift culminated in their landmark album *Hotel California* (1976), featuring timeless tracks such as the title song and "New Kid in Town." The album won multiple Grammys and sold over 10 million copies, becoming a cultural milestone.

With five No. 1 singles, 14 Top 40 hits, and four chart-topping albums, the Eagles achieved massive commercial success throughout the decade. Their compilation *Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975)* remains one of the best-selling albums in music history, with combined sales of their greatest hits and *Hotel California* surpassing 35 million copies in the U.S. alone.

Though the band disbanded in 1982, they reunited in 1994 with the acclaimed live album *Hell Freezes Over*, proving their lasting appeal. After Glenn Frey’s passing in 2016, the Eagles continued to tour with new members including Frey’s son Deacon and acclaimed country artist Vince Gill, ensuring that their legacy as trailblazers of classic rock endures across generations.
