About Hans Williams

Hans Williams is an independent singer-songwriter whose musical journey began in Vermont and flourished after relocating to New Orleans. Immersed from an early age in the rich sounds of Al Green, Tracy Chapman, Steely Dan, and James Brown—favorites of his parents—Williams developed a deeply eclectic sensibility. This diverse heritage informs his signature blend of raw, raspy vocals and guitar-driven indie-folk arrangements, creating an authentic and emotionally resonant sound.

Drawing inspiration from New Orleans’ vibrant, historically rich music scene, Williams crafts songs that serve as personal catharsis, allowing listeners worldwide to find solace and connection in his heartfelt compositions. His hands-on, DIY approach respects both his Vermont roots and the culturally fertile environment of his adopted city, resulting in music that feels intimate and universal. Throughout his career, Williams has garnered a dedicated global following, distinguished by the honest vulnerability and depth woven into every track.

Beyond his artistry, Hans Williams is actively engaged in social advocacy, supporting organizations such as Covenant House New Orleans and the Southeast Dignity Not Detention Coalition. This commitment reflects his belief in the power of music not only to heal but also to inspire meaningful community change. As he continues to evolve, Williams remains a compelling voice in indie-folk, rooted firmly in tradition while carving his own unique path.
