About Ty Segall

Ty Segall is a prolific American musician and singer-songwriter who has become a defining figure in contemporary garage punk and beyond. Hailing from Orange County, California, Segall began his career as the frontman of the garage rock band the Epsilons before launching a solo journey with his self-titled debut album in 2008. Known for his restless creativity, Ty Segall’s expansive discography spans diverse styles including raw garage rock, psychedelic folk, hard rock, acoustic balladry, and even all-percussion experimental works.

His 2009 album "Lemons" showcased his talent for capturing the spirit and guitar tones of ’60s garage legends like The Sonics and The Stooges. Subsequent releases such as "Melted" (2010) and the introspective "Goodbye Bread" (2011) revealed a widening range, blending gritty energy with melodic, singer-songwriter influences. Segall’s sonic evolution continued with the acoustic "Sleeper" (2013), the eclectic and polished 17-track "Manipulator" (2014), and the synth-heavy "Harmonizer" (2021). His 2018 record "Freedom’s Goblin" pushed boundaries further by incorporating horns and elaborate arrangements, while the intimate "Hello, Hi" (2022) revisited his softer side. Recent projects like "Love Rudiments" (2024), an all-percussion album, and the psychedelic-folk "Three Bells" (2024) highlight his fearless experimentation.

Alongside his solo work, Ty Segall collaborates frequently with artists like Mikal Cronin, Emmett Kelly, and White Fence, and leads side projects including Fuzz and Gøggs. He has also composed film scores, notably for "Whirlybird" (2022), and produced albums for acts like SASAMI and Flat Worms. With a relentless drive and dynamic range, Ty Segall remains one of the most inventive and influential voices in modern rock.
